Industry Trend Analysis - Door Closing On Central Asian Gas Development - JUNE 2017
BMI View : The outlook on the Central Asian gas sector continue s to deteriorate, as infrastructural, pricing and demand-side constraints increasingly weigh on the prospects for resource development with in the region.
Despite a large conventional resource base, the Central Asian gas sector has faced major roadblocks to its development. Among the main issues are the limited avenues for export, low commodity prices and increasing saturation of key consumer markets. We see supply remaining heavily constrained by demand over our 10-year forecast period, with a gradual rise in prices insufficient to support the bulk of prospective developments.
