Macroeconomic Forecast Belarus

According to the most recent data released by the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the trade deficit over the period of January to May totalled US$2.7bn, a significant contraction from the US$3.1bn shortfall witnessed during the same period last year. With export growth outpacing import growth thus far in 2010, the narrowing trade deficit will help drive a contraction in the broader current account deficit to 9.0% of GDP this year down from 11.8% in 2009.
