Presidential Race Goes To Run-Off
June 2010 | Ratings UpdateInterim President Bronislaw Komorowski came out on top in Poland's May 28-29 president election, but was unable to muster the 50% of the vote required to secure victory. Komorowski, who received 41.5% of the vote, will now face a run-off election against second-placed Jaroslaw Kaczynski, who scored 36.5% in the first round, on July 4. We continue to expect Komorowski to emerge as the eventual victor, which we believe will allow his Civic Platform (which forms the government) to more effectively deliver its legislative programme.
