IMF Talks Ongoing
June 2010 | Risk SummaryAn IMF Mission arrived in Ukraine on June 21, for meetings with the government to discuss progress on fiscal targets which need to be met in order for the country to receive a new IMF loan. The meetings are also expected to cover Ukraine's efforts to pay down its national debt, as well as structural reforms of the financial and energy sectors. Ukraine hopes to negotiate a new loan worth between US$19-20bn with the IMF, which we believe would be crucial in bolstering investor confidence in the country, helping to increase capital inflows and contribute to the economic recovery.
