Election Observers Announced

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has confirmed that it will send a 30-strong mission to Azerbaijan for the country's parliamentary elections in November. PACE will assess Azerbaijan's democratic institutions in the run up to polling, while also sending a five person pre-election observation mission to the country. While the announcement of the mission is an important development as part of Azerbaijan's attempts to improve its democratic credentials, we continue to highlight serious flaws in the fields of press freedom and corruption.
