Estonia To Join OECD
June 2010 | Risk SummaryAlongside Slovenia and Israel, Estonia has been invited to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), a grouping of developed and high middle income countries dedicated to democracy and market principles. While membership comes with few direct tangible benefits for Estonia, as the first Baltic state to receive a formal membership offer, it will enhance the status and position of the country as a leader within the region. In conjunction with the expected accession to the eurozone in 2011, entry into the OECD will also confirm and enhance the perception of Estonia as a developed market with a low level of political and economic risks.
