Structural Changes To Lead To Shift In Policy
June 2010 | Risk SummaryThe shift in domestic political dynamics will continue to have a major influence on foreign policy. Military priorities rooted in Cold War era interests, which have underpinned alliances with NATO and Israel are expected to become less relevant as economic incentives with increasingly important emerging markets become predominant. While we expect Turkey's membership in the NATO alliance to remain in place through the next decade, our core view is for the dominant position of the United States in foreign affairs to dwindle and for the country's historically strong military relationship with Israel to diminish considerably if not altogether.
