Confidence Vote Reflects Ongoing Coalition Strains

Latvia's interior minister has survive a vote of no confidence, bolstering political stability in the short term. However, strains on the minority coalition government continue to build, with the risk of the government collapsing before the October parliamentary election. Even should the coalition survive until the upcoming ballot, we warn that weak and fragmented political support for Latvia's main parties will likely see an equally weak government being formed at the end of 2010
