Foreign Policy Reorientation Now Complete

Ukraine's long-expected foreign policy reorientation back towards Russia progressed further on April 21, when Kiev and Moscow signed agreements over two longstanding issues which have previously acted as flashpoints of instability in bilateral relations between the neighbouring states. In the first instance, Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev inked a new gas supply deal which will result in a 30% cut in the price Ukraine pays for natural gas imports going forward (though the discount is not to exceed US$100).
