2010/2011 Elections Key For Medium-Term Reforms

Upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in 2010 and 2011, respectively, will have a significant impact on medium-term policymaking in Poland. Successfully electing a Civic Platform party in the presidential ballot would help align the interests of the government and presidency, removing a major obstacle which up until now has prevented some key legislation being passed. We caution, however, that electioneering could see an increase in discretionary spending and delay the government's fiscal consolidation plan
