According to latest data from the Ministry of Finance, Hungary's central government budget deficit came in at HUF914bn through November 2009, marking a slight improvement upon the HUF973bn shortfall posted through the same point in 2008. These figures confirm our view that Hungary's budget deficit would remain in check throughout the economy's protracted recession, as Budapest's IMF Stand-By Arrangement forced a reigning in government expenditures.
