Russia To Send Ambassador
January 2010 | Market StrategyRussian President Dmitry Medvedev has decided to send an ambassador to Ukraine for the first time in five months in an effort to improve bilateral relations between the two countries. Mikhail Zurabov was appointed in 2009 as the ambassador but was not sent to Kiev due to Medvedev's belief that then Ukrainian president Viktor Yushchenko had 'anti-Russian' policies. Ukraine's opposition leader Viktor Yanukovich and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko won the biggest shares of votes during the January 17 presidential election, and will compete in a run-off next month.
