Political Risk In 2010: As Bad As It Gets

Ukraine's presidential election campaign, the first since 2004's 'Orange Revolution', remains in full swing, and will dominate the domestic political environment through the remainder of 2009 and Q110. While the country's political risk profile is among the least stable in Emerging Europe, with Ukraine scoring only 42.1 out of 100 under our short-term political risk ratings, we nevertheless believe that the situation will only deteriorate further in the coming months. Here, we highlight the key risks to watch out for in 2010, in addition to our views on the most likely post-election scenarios.
