October 2009 | Risk SummarySpeaking at a security conference in Riga, Lithuania's newly elected president, Dalia Grybauskaite, said that NATO needed to develop a concrete defence plan for the Baltic states, in addition to providing greater security guarantees. Grybauskaite went on to say that with Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia remaining key contributing members of NATO's mission in Afghanistan, Brussels needed to do more to help address growing threats to the Baltic region's security.
