Three former High Representatives to Bosnia issued a joint statement on October 19, criticising the proposals put forward by the EU and US to attempt to break Bosnia's political stalemate. The three former envoys, Wolfgang Petritsch, Paddy Ashdown and Christian Schwarz-Schilling, voiced their concerns that the current holder of the post, Valentin Inzko, and representatives of the major political actors had not been sufficiently involved in the formulation of the international proposals. The development reinforces our view that the ongoing talks are likely to provoke wider international debate, and could potentially cause increased ructions between major actors going forward.
