Shootout Highlights Security Risks

Four police officers and one passerby were killed during a shootout in the Albanian tourist city of Durres on August 7, after one of the country's most wanted fugitives opened fire prior to being apprehended by authorities. Dritan Dajti, who had been on the run for six years, and has been named as a suspect in a series of murders and kidnappings in the Western Balkan country, was wounded in the gun battle before being arrested by Albanian special operations forces.
