The latest opinion poll conducted by CCSB reveals that support amongst the Romanian electorate for the two governing parties - the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L) and the alliance between the Social Democrat Party (PSD) and the Conservative Party (PC) - is equal at 33% apiece. The similarity in the polling data between the two main parties ahead of the presidential election (due to be held in either November or December of this year) indicates that the election will be closely fought between the two. We caution that this could exacerbate tensions between the partners in the 'grand coalition', potentially leading to delays in policymaking and implementation.
