A July poll by Factum Invenio showed an exact split in Czech public opinion over their country's involvement in the war in Afghanistan, with 50% of respondents in favour and 50% opposed. Prague deploys around 439 troops to the NATO mission in the country as of mid-2009, with Czech troops undertaking a number of reconstruction, logistics and counterinsurgency roles. Three Czech soldiers have died in the campaign to date. Meanwhile, Czech inflation came in at 1.2% y-o-y in June, a 0.1pp downtick from the 1.3% price growth seen in May. This owed particularly to a 7.3% y-o-y contraction in transport prices and a 4.6% contraction in food prices.
