According to the latest opinion poll conducted by TNS OBOP, Poland's ruling Civic Platform (PO) party maintains a strong lead over the opposition, with approximately 50% of the electorate intending to vote for the party in the next parliamentary election. In contrast, the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party maintains the support of only 24% of voters. While parliamentary elections are not due until 2011, we are nevertheless encouraged by this data, and believe that the PO's strong public mandate will help the government pursue a coherent policy agenda in the face of the economic downturn.
