Trading Insults With Kosovo

Serbia's relations with its separatist region Kosovo continue to remain tense. Indeed, during a meeting at the United Nations Security Council on March 23, Kosovo's Foreign Minister accused Belgrade of stirring up crime in its northern areas. In response, Serbia claimed that an 'ethnic-Albanian mafia' was involved in human trafficking, arms and drugs smuggling. Going forward, we continue to expect relations between Serbia and Kosovo to remain tense. At present, a significant outbreak of violence in the region is not our core scenario however we do expect political tensions between the two remain heightened.
