The Croatian kuna has come under pressure of late as a result of seasonal factors, including the move from peak to non-peak tourist season, as well as suggestions that foreign exchange reserves could be used to aid local liquidity. Indeed, the unit started 2009 by testing five-year trendline support which now comes in just shy of HRK7.3900/EUR. A break through this level could augur a move all the way back through HRK7.5000/EUR and beyond, which would constitute a major risk to our view of broad kuna stability.
