Russian Diplomats Expelled

Lithuania has provoked Russian political anger by announcing the expulsion of three Russian diplomats for espionage. BMI View: It is the decision of the Lithuanian government to publicise the expulsions, rather than the expulsions themselves, which has brought the prospect of retaliatory measures to the fore. Looking ahead, the government faces a challenge to integrate NATO demands for Euro-Atlantic security, along with the need for positive political relations with Russia, into its foreign policy
