Hungary To Withdraw From Iraq

The Hungarian parliament has failed to approve an extension to the deployment of its troops in Iraq. As a consequence, the country’s 300-strong military contingent will be withdrawn by end-2004. BMI View: The vote represents a major blow to the ruling Socialists’ policy of participation in the reconstruction and stabilisation of Iraq.
