External Debt Growth To Fall

Estonian gross external debt growth is set to fall markedly going forward, as global credit conditions tighten and the economy remains in recession through H208. While this is a positive signal for the reduction of the country's wide external asymmetries, we caution that the large debt load will remain a key macroeconomic risk through the long term.
