June 2008 | Risk SummaryPoland has agreed to train around 100 Palestinian police officers in 2009, as part of its contribution to the Middle Eastern peace process, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Witold Waszykowski. This latest development is indicative of Poland's increasing visibility in global political and security related issues, and follows a previous move to commit around 400 troops to serve in Afghanistan. Though involvement in such issues will help to consolidate ties with the West, it may also elevate the risk of Poland becoming a target for terrorist attacks.
