June 2008 | Risk SummarySlovenia has reached the end of its six-month stint at the helm of the EU. During its time at the helm, the government led the international recognition of an independent Kosovo and saw the region-wide ratification of the Lisbon Treaty derailed by an Irish referendum. Overall, we believe Slovenia has successfully enhanced its international profile, and will continue to play an important role in the integration of the Western Balkans with the EU. Now, all attention will turn back to domestic politics, as political parties begin campaigning for September's elections. Incumbent Social Democrat of Slovenia Party (SDS) is currently trailing
