Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu will meet his Italian counterpart in Italy at the start of June in a bid to reduce tensions between the two countries. Tensions have ticked up as the new Italian government, led by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, plans to introduce a tougher immigration policy, which includes the reintroduction of visas for Romanians amid concerns over rising crime in Italy, which Rome associates with Romanian nationals.
