Election Crucial For Mining Agreement

It is unlikely that a benchmark mining agreement between the Mongolian government and Canadian firm Ivanhoe over the Oyu Tolgoi copper deposit will be signed until after parliamentary elections on June 8. That said, upon completion of the election cycle, we expect the deal to be pushed through fairly quickly, regardless of which of the two main parties wins the election.
