We continue to forecast robust economic growth for Albania over the long term, with real GDP expected to expand by an average 5.7% from 2007-2012. Convergence reforms and increasing trade integration with the fast-growing south-east European region alongside the implementation of the Central Europe Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) should help to bolster growth. That said, challenges remain, including spiralling inflation and a weak business environment which will act to constrain foreign direct investment.
