Rates To Rise Even Further

We have revised our end-year forecast for the Hungarian base rate to 8.50% from 8.00% on the back of the National Bank of Hungary 's larger than expected 50bps hike on March 31. Despite this, we continue to see short-term weakness for the forint as elevated political risks heighten investor concerns about the future of the economic reform agenda.
