Macroeconomic Forecast Turkmenistan

March 2008 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

Turkmenistan, the top natural gas producer in Central Asia, plans to increase its 2008 production forecast to 81.5bn cubic metres, up from a previous forecast of 73.0bn cubic metres. This will represent a 12.7% increase from the 72.3bn cubic metres produced in 2007. We anticipate that this will positively impact on Turkmenistan's current account surplus, which we forecast will come in at 1.7% of GDP in 2008, increasing to 2.2% in 2009.
