Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan continue to make progress towards nurturing relations, which have been strained since disputes a rose over several offshore oil and gas fields. Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan is essential for the success of the Nabucco pipeline project which is backed by the European Union and the United States.
