In a statement issued on February 25, the Kyrgyzstan parliament appealed to the Russian government to launch a thorough investigation into the recent spate of killings of Kyrgyz nationals working in Russia. So far this year, eight Kyrgyz migrants have been murdered in Moscow. Although outgoing Russian President Vladamir Putin has vowed to end the routine attacks on migrant workers in Russia, the issue is unlikely to be resolved anytime soon. Should attacks on Kyrgyz workers continue to rise, relations with Russia may deteriorate.
