EU Postpones Decision on SAA

The EU has postponed agreeing a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) - the first-step to EU membership. The decision was based on the assessment of Carla del Ponte, the United Nations (UN) war crime prosecutor, that Serbian co-operation over the arrest of Mladic and Karadzic has been insufficient. The UN urged the EU to insist Serbia fully co-operates with the tribunal as a condition for starting the EU accession process.
