The Chairman of the ruling Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP), Sanj Bayar was elected as the new prime minister on November 22, just over two weeks after the formal resignation of Miyeegombiin Enkhbold on November 8. While we were concerned about short-term political instability resulting from Enkhbold's forced resignation, the quick election of Bayar is a promising signal that the political elite is eager to push forward on the government's policy agenda. Signalling policy continuity, Bayar pledged to move on reforming the state and eliminate corruption.
