Macroeconomic Forecast Kyrgyzstan
October 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsConsumer price inflation (CPI) in September rose to 10.3% year-to-date, up from 6.4% ytd a month earlier. Inflation continues to be primarily driven by a hike in food prices across much of the Central Asian region, where the 3.6% m-o-m jump in September CPI came on the back of a 6.4% m-o-m surge in food prices, in particular the price of wheat. Indeed, the price of baked goods has ballooned to 36.5% ytd in September, up from 20.3% ytd in August and just 5.0% in July. We are currently forecasting average CPI of 5.5% in 2007, expecting food prices to moderate in Q107.
