EU Membership On The Horizon

Following the signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) at the end of March, Montenegro's Foreign Minister announced recently that Montenegro will formally apply for EU membership by mid-2008. We are encouraged by the country's efforts to join the economic bloc, as the prospects of EU accession will act as an important policy anchor going forward. Furthermore, the adoption of the EU's aquis communautaire over the coming years will prove essential for improving the economy's competitiveness and increasing the attractiveness of the business environment to foreign investors.
