September 2007 | Risk SummaryThe ruling Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) is losing ground to its main opposition, the left-wing Social Democrats (SD). In a poll carried out by the daily Dnevnik on September 24, the SDS held 18.1%, whilst the SD stormed ahead with 27.8% of public support. This result follows government reshuffling which has seen the removal of the ministers of Transport, Health, and Higher Education, Science and Technology. Their removal has largely resulted from voices of discontent within the opposition party over their performance record.
