An End To The Boycott

We are encouraged by the agreement between the BDI and VMRO-DPMNE to end the former party's boycott of parliament and are cautiously optimistic that the convergence reform agenda will receive new impetus from the legislature going forward. Indeed, the commitment by the VMRO-DPMNE and the BDI to continue dialogue in key areas relating to integration into the Euro-Atlantic institutions is a particularly positive signal reinforcing our view that there is consensus among the country's political elite for the convergence process. That said, we caution that ethnic divisions will continue to be a key political risk threatening to slow the process
