Low Regional Score

Albania comes 21st out of 28 emerging European countries in our new short-term political ratings, and 15th on a long-term basis. Disagreements between the Socialists and Democrats are currently delaying the passage of new legislation in parliament, and high unemployment, poverty, public unrest and high levels of corruption - which result in low trust of politicians - also weigh on the country's short-term score. The need for judicial reform, a stronger rule of law and the improvement of minority rights also contribute to relatively low structural scores.
