Czech Politics: No Light At The End Of The Tunnel?
March 2007 | Political Risk AnalysisFollowing the appointment of a new ODS-led coalition government, composed of the Civic Democrats (ODS), the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and the Green Party (SZ), at the beginning of the year, the new administration successfully won a vote of confidence in the National Assembly on 19 January. Although the ballot ended a six-month political deadlock, which had left the Czech Republic without a functioning government since the parliamentary elections in June 2006, it is unlikely that the administration will be able to provide the necessary political impetus the country has lacked in recent months.
