Difficult Time Ahead For ODS
February 2007 | Risk SummaryFollowing the appointment of an ODS-led coalition government by President Vaclav Klaus at the beginning of the year, the new administration successfully won, by a close margin, a vote of confidence in the National Assembly on 19 January. Although the ballot ended a six-month deadlock in parliament, it is unlikely that the new government will be able to provide the necessary political impetus the country has lacked in recent months, as the coalition only commands the support of half of the National Assembly's 200 deputies.
