Belarusian hopes for a more favourable deal on gas prices were given a boost yesterday at a CIS summit in Minsk. Russian President Vladimir Putin added weight to suggestions made earlier in the month that proposed gas price hikes to US$200 per 1000 cubic metres could be reviewed, in return for greater Russian control over Belarusian pipelines.
