Ali Ahmeti, leader of the of ethnic Albanian Democratic Union for Integration (UDI) continues to push for his party's inclusion in the new government led by the VMRO-DPMNE, which includes his Albanian rivals, the Democratic Party of Albanians. The rhetoric is still that the Ohrid Agreement, which brought an end to the 2001 conflict, is not properly being implemented, and we think that the EU and NATO are unlikely to be willing to progress with membership talks until futher steps are taken to reduce political and ethnic tensions.
