July 2006 | Risk SummaryA spate of resignations followed the Kaczynski twins' consolidation of power in July, including Poland's ambassadors to Brussels and Berlin, and the veteran head of the EU department at the foreign ministry. European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso also called off a Polish visit in late August. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Andrzej Lepper is calling loudly for the replacement of the economy, treasury and health ministers, following the replacement of the prime minister and three finance ministers since September's elections. We expect more cabinet reshuffles in H206.
