With the capture of Gotovina, the government will undoubtedly be relieved that such a major obstacle to EU integration has been overcome, and will now look to turn its full attention to improving key legislation for ethnic minorities, competition policy and the judiciary system. Communication of the benefits of EU entry to the public will be crucial in this potentially difficult period of reform, in order to keep nationalist sentiment at an unthreatening level. If good progress is made in 2006, we believe accession by 2010 to be a realistic
