The EU's annual convergence report on progress towards EU accession in Romania suggests that membership in 2007 is a feasible, though challenging, prospect. The report has also supported the view that Romania's EU preparations have caught up with Bulgaria's. The Romanian authorities are under considerable pressure to allay EU concern in the domains of anti-corruption policy, food safety standards and border controls in order to preserve their 2007 EU entry objective.
