Tajikistan is looking to boost security, energy, and economic ties with Iran and Afghanistan, after a July 25-26 summit between the three states. However, it is also cautiously maintaining relations with the US and UK, who both sent high-level representatives to Dushanbe in July. Like other states in the Central Asian region, Tajikistan's international standing is taking on increasing significance in global geo-politics, which should help encourage increased investment and aid into the poverty-stricken region.
