Unlikely To Thaw
March 2006 | Political Risk AnalysisAzerbaijan is unlikely in the months ahead to make much progress on resolving its 12-year-old frozen conflict with Armenia over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. The region, situated in south-western Azerbaijan, will continue to be controlled by Karabakh's ethnic Armenians, and an uneasy ceasefire will persist - albeit one that is punctuated with the odd exchange of gunfire across the region's minefield-littered borders.
