Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek has successful appointed Jiri Havel as deputy prime minister for the economy. He is an economist and likely to largely follow the agenda established by his predecessor, Martin Jahn. The smooth transition should mitigate any potential fallout for the government, and will not halt the momentum the Social Democrats (CSSD) currently have in the build up to elections in June 2006.
